What a nursery teacher does
A nursery teacher plans the day for children aged about 2 to 5: welcoming them, leading circle time, songs and stories, setting up play and activity areas, guiding early language and number play, supervising meals and rest, and keeping parents informed. The job is part teacher, part carer.
NTT, ECCE or both?
NTT focuses on the nursery classroom. ECCE is broader and includes care from birth and child psychology. If you will work only with 3- to 5-year-olds in a playschool, NTT fits; if you also want infant and toddler care or a path to the PG Diploma, choose ECCE.
Where NTT graduates work
- Playschools and nursery schools
- Kindergarten sections of private schools
- Daycare centres and creches
- Activity and phonics centres for young children
Higher NTT levels
Diploma and PG Diploma levels in nursery teacher training are also offered. Ask admissions for details.
