What the Diploma adds
The Diploma covers every area of early childhood care and education in more depth and adds practical, assessed work:
- Physical development: growth, gross and fine motor skills, and how movement and play build a healthy body and brain.
- Cognitive development: how young children think, explore, solve problems and build early concepts of number, shape and pattern.
- Language and communication: listening, speaking, vocabulary, early reading readiness and the role of stories, rhymes and conversation.
- Social and emotional development: attachment, self-regulation, friendships, managing feelings and building confidence.
- Care, health and nutrition: hygiene, safe sleep, feeding, first-aid awareness, daily routines and a safe environment.
- Play-based learning: why play is how young children learn, and how to plan activities, learning corners and outdoor play.
- Case studies: analysing real situations involving children's behaviour, development and learning, then planning a response.
- Lesson planning: writing complete activity and lesson plans for preschool, nursery and kindergarten groups.
- Final project: a project at the end of the course that brings your learning together.

Study plan
The Diploma is designed for up to 10 months at 5 to 6 hours a week. Many learners study one module at a time, writing case studies and lesson plans as they go so the final project builds naturally. A fast-track add-on is available if you need the certificate sooner for a job application.
Diploma or PG Diploma?
If you are a graduate, the 240-hour PG Diploma is usually the better investment: it is written at postgraduate depth and is the core of both Master levels. If you have finished Class 12 and do not yet have a degree, the Diploma is the right level.

The ECCE Diploma (200 hours) costs US$250, £210 or ₹17,700 incl. GST. It is designed for up to 10 months of self-paced study, and an optional fast-track add-on costs US$65, £50 or ₹4,700. Compare all fees and payment options.
Entry requirements
Class 12 pass and good English. No previous teaching experience is needed. Schools and employers in some countries also ask for a degree or a local licence for lead-teacher roles.
How you are assessed
Each module ends with multiple-choice questions that you must pass before moving on, and the correct answers are shared after each attempt so you can learn from them. At this level you also complete case studies and lesson plans that tutors review, and a final project before your certificate is issued.
Practical experience
The course is studied online. If you have not worked with young children before, we strongly recommend arranging supervised time in a preschool, nursery, kindergarten, daycare or anganwadi near you while you study. Ask admissions whether a letter can support your placement.
