ECCE Certificate Course Online: 120 Hours
The Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is a 120-hour online course for anyone who cares for or teaches children aged 0 to 6. It covers child development, care and teaching strategies, takes up to 6 months of self-paced study and costs US$170, £140 or ₹11,800 including GST. Entry is Class 10, and you receive a verifiable certificate from London College of Teachers.

Who this course is for
- Parents and new mothers who want to understand their child's development
- Nannies, caregivers and daycare staff
- Preschool and nursery assistants starting their career
- Anyone exploring early childhood teaching before a longer course
What you will learn
- Understand how children grow and learn from birth to six
- Plan safe, healthy daily routines for young children
- Use play, stories, songs and activities to support early learning
- Recognise developmental milestones and early signs that a child needs help
What ECCE covers
Early Childhood Care and Education looks at the whole child. The Certificate introduces each of these areas:
- Physical development: growth, gross and fine motor skills, and how movement and play build a healthy body and brain.
- Cognitive development: how young children think, explore, solve problems and build early concepts of number, shape and pattern.
- Language and communication: listening, speaking, vocabulary, early reading readiness and the role of stories, rhymes and conversation.
- Social and emotional development: attachment, self-regulation, friendships, managing feelings and building confidence.
- Care, health and nutrition: hygiene, safe sleep, feeding, first-aid awareness, daily routines and a safe environment.
- Play-based learning: why play is how young children learn, and how to plan activities, learning corners and outdoor play.
- Child psychology: understanding behaviour, temperament and needs, and recognising early signs that a child may need extra support.
- Working with families: communicating with parents and caregivers and building partnership between home and setting.
A typical week of study
Most learners give 4 to 6 hours a week and finish within six months. A typical week might be two short evening sessions reading the module, one session observing a child at home or in a setting and noting what you see, and a weekend session for the module quiz. If you can give 10 hours a week, you can finish in about three months, and the optional fast-track add-on is available.
Where the Certificate can take you
- Assistant teacher or helper in a preschool, playschool or nursery
- Daycare and creche staff, nanny or private caregiver
- Home-based childcare or activity classes for toddlers
- A confident start as a parent who understands early development
- The first step towards the ECCE Diploma, PG Diploma or Montessori training
Certificate or Diploma?
Choose the Certificate if you want a short, affordable introduction or you work as a carer or assistant. Choose the 200-hour Diploma if you want to lead a preschool or nursery class: it adds case studies, lesson planning and a final project that employers recognise as teacher-level preparation. Read the full comparison in ECCE Certificate vs Diploma.
After the Certificate
Many learners go on to the Diploma or add Montessori training. Ask admissions about upgrading.
